RICO DROVE REGINA, Tamika, and Yvonne home that night in his sparkling white BMW and left without even asking Regina for a good-night kiss. A few nights later Regina saw the BMW parked outside a club on Eighth Avenue, and went inside. Sure enough, Rico was at a table talking to two men dressed similarly to him. When he looked up and saw her, he waved for her to take a seat next to him. Suddenly frightened, Regina shook her head. She started to tell him she was on her way to someplace else, when he gave her a stern look and motioned again for her to take a seat. Regina smiled and sat down. The two men left seconds later.

“Okay pretty thing, tell me what you’re doing in my club.”

“Your club? You own it?”

“I might as well, I’m in here all the time. But I’ve never seen you in here,” he answered as he leaned back in his chair and appraised her.

“I just came in because I saw your car outside and I wanted to say hello,” Regina answered.

“And I guess you’re rushing off now to make another appointment.”

“Yep.” Regina chuckled.

“And how much were you going to make off of this appointment?” Rico chuckled along with her.

“Two hundred.”

Rico whistled in admiration, then pulled out his money clip and put four one hundred dollar bills in her hand.

“Now you don’t have to make your appointment. I’ve got to split because I have an appointment of my own, but why don’t you find your girlfriends and just hang out for a while?”

“You don’t have to do that!” Regina protested, while thinking about how much she could use the money. Renee was due for shots in a few weeks.

“I’m only doing it because I don’t have to. Now hurry up and give me my kiss on the cheek so I can get out of here.” He grinned.
